Inspiration by BeckyKidus Inspiration by BeckyKidus
Something else. For a difference. It surprised me as well - but sometimes you just get inspired and want to draw something :-)
So, an old sailing ship - the most beautiful way of transportation there is. Heck, I love these old ships!
If anyone wonders why the flags are black - It's because I want them like that :-D I don't really care about difference nations or such things, and I didn't want a pirate flag. But I like black. So, here it is.

I love this, I really admire your skill here! Traditional media was so hard for me to wrangle in school, and here you've done an expert job with the details and value. Even aside from the technical skill, this got my attention because it reminds me of the sorts of things my grandpa would paint - he did a lot of airplanes, also some ships and trains! They're cool and underappreciated subjects. Amazing work!

Plain black flags are actually what most pirates sailed. The skull and crossbones are a modern interpretation, I think.
So technically, it is a pirate ship. :P

XD
I think some of the most famous pirates had their own flag, to show off who they were. But the rest might have used a plain black flag :-) I'm no expert at this :-)

Check the section on the Jolly Roger. A few pirates used it, but most did indeed use a plain black one.
Pirates weren't all rich enough to hire flag designers.

Stunning piece of work :D
Yes, it would be good to crew and work one of these ships. A hard life but would relish the challenge.
You've done a fantastic job with detailing, especially on the sails and the water.
Total change of pace for you but artistically, sometimes that's a great thing :)

After this it's back to the animals, I guess... But I might draw one of these again some time. They're pretty funny to draw.

Is it a generic ship or did you copied a real one?

No, it's not the Cutty Sark. I don't know the name of this ship.
